Elordi’s dual recognition highlights his rapid rise from Netflix teen rom-com star, after bursting onto the global scene in The Kissing Booth in 2018, to a global screen star and places him among the most decorated Australian contenders this year.

He joins a strong local cohort at the Globes, including Joel Edgerton and Rose Byrne.

Edgerton was nominated for best actor in a drama film for his role in Netflix’s Train Dreams, while Byrne earned a Best Actress nomination in a musical or comedy film for her performance in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.

The Golden Globe nominations were unveiled early on Tuesday morning, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another leading the film categories with nine nominations. Frankenstein scored five nods overall, strengthening its position as a major awards contender.

The 2026 Golden Globes will be held in Beverly Hills on January 11, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser.

Widely seen as a key bellwether ahead of the Academy Awards, the Globes often help shape the Oscars race, with nominations due later this month.

The nominations cap a busy few months for the 28-year-old, following Frankenstein’s theatrical release in October and Netflix debut in November, with awards season under way and his next major film, Wuthering Heights alongside Margot Robbie, set for release in February.
